Description: Zwischen 2007 und 2010 ist auf einem Teil des ehemaligen ÖBB-Geländes im Bereich des Bahnhofs Heiligenstadt, direkt an der Muthgasse, in einem ersten Bauabschnitt ein neuer Forschungskomplex, LifeScience Vienna Muthgasse (BOKU BioTech I), entstanden. Das Labor- und Bürogebäude mit Einrichtungen für Forschung und Entwicklung präsentiert sich als L-förmiger Baukörper. Bauteil A (BOKU-VIBT) dient als Erweiterung der Lehr- und Forschungseinrichtungen der BOKU, im Bauteil B haben sich internationale Unternehmen wie die Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research GmbH & Co KG, das AIT Austrian Institute of Technology sowie branchenaffine kleinere Spin-off-Unternehmen eingemietet. Das nächste Gebäude, BioTech II (Bauteile C und D), ist projektiert und behördlich genehmigt, Baubeginn ist 2011. Am Standort wird in weiterer Folge noch ein Gebäude entstehen – WHITE SPACE.
